Thin skin can be made to match your skin color and is usually used around the perimeter of the wig with lace throughout the rest; however some wearers prefer that the full cap is thin skin. Some people like this option due to the fact that the hair looks as if it is growing from the skin. (This wig is not recommended for wearers who live in very humid areas)
What is “silk base”? [Top]
A silk base is usually used at the crown of the unit which hides the knots that are hand tied in the unit, the material used throughout the unit is Swiss of French lace. This option is more undetectable then Swiss and or French however it is only available at the crown area.

What is Baby hair? [Top]
Baby hair is the fine hairs around the perimeter of the unit. It gives a more natural appearance, as most people have shorter hair naturally at their hair line, and nape. Generally all of our stock units come with baby hair, which may also be used to cover beginner flaws during application as well as the lace.
What are Bleached Knots? [Top]
Bleached knots is the process of lightening the knots that are created when ventilating the unit. It is recommended to further provide the illusion of hair growing out of your scalp. Typically all of our stock units come with bleached knots, either at the perimeter or throughout.
What color lace should I select? [Top]
You should closely match The lace color with the color of your scalp complexion, not necessarily your skin tone because the two colors can vary. If you are uncertain you can choose a color that is a shade lighter than your complexion or transparent. The lace can be easily dyed or darkened usually with a fabric dye solution to accommodate your preference. You can also stitch a wig cap under the wig at the crown to achieve a natural look.
What is hair density? [Top]
Hair density is the thickness or fullness of hair. 100-110% is the most common density. Manetain Beauty wigs are a combination of light to medium density to ensure a very natural realistic head of hair. When ordering your custom or medical wig you may choose your desired density.
How long will my wig last? [Top]
With proper care and maintenance, your lace wig will typically last anywhere from 1 to 2 years. Manetain Beauty offers Maintenance Services which allows you to Maintain your look and wig for longer. These services include mending holes in the lace, adding hair to the unit, and deep cleaning the base and hair to rid the unit of adhesives. If you are an everyday lace wearer it is recommended that you purchase 2 or more units so that you may be able to Maintain your look while one of your wigs is being service.

Which adhesives or Tapes do I purchase? [Top]
That’s a great question! It all depends on your individual body chemistry which adhesives will work best for you and provide the longest hold. Most people typically start out with the Ultra Hold or the Lace FX. I recommend that you Purchase the Manetain Kit, which has everything you need to install and maintain your investment. You should try adhesives based on their description and hold time that meet your needs. Will the adhesives damage my hairline? [Top]
The adhesives will not cause damage to your hairline when properly applied and removed using the necessary solvents and removers which come in your Manetain Kit. Damage may occur when removing the unit by pulling the unit without first releasing the hold. Great care should be taken with both application and removal.
I work out regularly and sweat very heavily, will a lace wig work for me? [Top]
Of course, however your must find the best adhesive for your specific body chemistry. Using a combination of adhesive and tape is very helpful. Also some find that if they apply a light layer of scalp protector around their hairline before they apply their adhesives, this may help create a longer hold by minimizing the amount of sweat and oil buildup. Also, you may want to wear a sweat band or scarf around your perimeter during your workout, for added protection and security.

Can I color or dye my Full Lace Wig? [Top]
Yes you can, however we recommend you take your unit to a professional since chemical processing is involved. If you plan on doing multiple chemical services, it is recommended that you order a virgin unit. You can always order a custom unit that is colored as per your request.
What is Remy Hair? [Top]
Remy hair is selected “root end first “ from one donor. Cuticles are kept intact and each hair strand is kept in one direction. This process is necessary for beautiful hair that will not tangle and will flow as if it was growing from your head.
What is Virgin Human hair? [Top]
It’s hair that is in its purest state, raw and unprocessed. Virgin hair is also Remy hair. Each strand is hand selected and strands are kept in a uniform direction to prevent matting.
What is Indian Remy Hair? [Top]

How much hair should I order? [Top]
This depends on the texture of hair you select as well as the style you would like to achieve. Typically if you are simply looking to add hair to your hair (for volume) or looking to add hair as well as a frontal or closure 4oz is enough. For a full head of hair anywhere from 6 to 8oz is needed and if you like really full hair and even more volume 10 oz of hair is needed. Please keep in mind that the longer the length of the hair the less volume there is so you should buy accordingly.

Can the hair be color treated? [Top]
Yes, this hair is 100% pure human hair and it can be dyed. Manetain Beauty recommends that you consult with an experienced hair care professional when doing so.
What is “bulk” hair used for? [Top]
There are several different extension methods, however it is typically used for braiding. It is a bulk or bundle of loose hair without a weft, which is why it is shipped tied in a bundle to keep it together. Please go to a professional when getting your hair braided with Remy cuticle hair. It is not the same as store bought hair and will tangle if not braided with root end up.
What is “wefted” hair? [Top]
It is loose hair that has been taken and applied to a weft whether it be by hand or machine.
What is the difference between Single drawn and Double drawn hair? [Top]
Single drawn hair is cut and gathered as a ponytail from one donor. Therefore, there are a few natural shorter strands within a bundle of hair. The very short hairs have been removed. That’s why the hair may be sold 12” to 14” because there are a few 12” to 14” strands within the bundle. Many people are misinformed that the shorter hairs are split ends.
Double drawn hair contains only hair of the same length. For example if the hair is 18", every strand will be 18" unlike single drawn.
What exactly is a hand-tied weft? [Top]
The hand-tied weft is the most exclusive on the market.It is not the traditional machine weft. This weft is micro-thin in size,very strong, and undetectable. These wefts must not be cut!!!! When installing in your hair we suggest folding the weft over and continuing to sew until the weft ends. If the weft is cut it should be sealed with fabric glue or nail glue to prevent unraveling, or you can simply tie off the ends. This is the best quality and highly sought after weft on the market. The weft eliminates most shedding.
